Under the UK Data Protection Act 2018, an individual is entitled to request copies of certain personal data relating to themselves. This might be from an individual, or an organisation that holds such data. This is what is known as your “Right of Access”.

Such personal data can include copies of CCTV or Video Doorbell footage within which that individual can be identified - and an individual may request a copy of this footage by submitting a Subject Access Request or ‘SAR’. CCTV Safe is a company that represents CCTV and Video Doorbell operators within the UK and assists them in responding to such requests.

By submitting a Subject Access Request via this form, you are agreeing to give CCTV Safe permission to process the data provided in the ways described in our Privacy Policy.

The law requires Data Controllers to ensure that they take measures to verify the identity of the recipient of personal data, to ensure they share data only with the people that are entitled to see it.

We require a picture or scan of a Photographic ID to verify that you are the individual appearing in the requested CCTV footage, and Proof of Address to verify that you live at the address provided above.

Identity documents provided here are used ONLY to fulfill your request and will be permanently deleted from our systems once the Data Controller has provided a final response to your Subject Access Request.

What Data are you Requesting?

Please provide details of the date(s), time(s) and location(s) at which you believe you were likely recorded by the specified CCTV system. The CCTV Operator will use this information to locate the requested footage.

A description of the clothes you were wearing or details of a vehicle you were travelling in might also be helpful and allow footage to be located more quickly.

Other Options

While our electronic form offers the most convenient means of making a Subject Access Request, it is not the only way. You may verbally request a copy of your data by speaking to someone at the site of the CCTV installation, or by requesting this in writing from them.
